OVERVIEW

Beat the Heat this summer at Family Adventure Camp! This unique overnight camping experience will feature everything you know and love about outdoor camping plus demonstrations from hands on activities in fire safety put on by the Wayne County Fire & Rescue Association. All participants will receive a patch and lunch on Saturday.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

FRIDAY NIGHT

5:00 - 8:00pm​: Check in and tent setup.

SATURDAY

8:00-9:00am​: Check in for Saturday-only participants

9:10-12:00pm: Open Program. Families can attend any programs during this time. Programs include, but are not limited to:

  • BB guns

  • Archery

  • Slingshot

12:00-1:00pm: Lunch. Lunch is included in the cost of registration for all participants. 

1:00-3:00pm: Open Program. Families can attend any programs during this time. Programs include, but are not limited to:

  • BB guns

  • Archery

  • Slingshot

3:00pm: Special Fire Safety Program. Gather for a special presentation from the Wayne County Fire Association! Participants can leave on Saturday afternoon or can continue camping until Sunday morning.

SUNDAY MORNING

10:00am​: All Saturday night campers must be out of camp by 10:00am Sunday.

MEALS, GEAR, AND OTHER INFO

MEALS

Saturday lunch is the only meal provided at Family Adventure Camp. Prepare to bring food to cook in your campsite if camping. 

GEAR

Below you will find a suggested packing list for Family Adventure Camp. Items like tents, fire pits, chairs, sleeping bags, etc. are not provided. 

FIRES

Fires are permitted at Family Adventure Camp, however they must be in an
ABOVE-GROUND fire pit.
There are to be no ground fires. There will also not be any firewood

available at camp, please be prepared to bring your own wood, kindling, and materials to start

a fire.

SAMPLE PACKING LIST FOR FAMILY ADVENTURE CAMP

  • Tent & stakes

All participants must fill out the BSA Medical form (parts A & B) and bring to camp.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I park where I camp?

No. Campers will be asked to quickly drop their camping supplies off near their campsite, but then return their car to the parking lot before setting up their campsite.

Can I bring an RV or camper?

No. All camping is tent camping. 

Can our pack bring a pack trailer? 

Yes! Packs attending as a group and need to bring their unit trailer can do so and park it near the camping area. 

Do unit leaders need to attend?

No. Family Adventure Camp is a scouting event for families. Unit leaders are able to attend and units can camp as a group, but having a unit leader attend is not necessary. 

Is firewood provided?

No. Campers will need to bring their own kindling, firewood, and all other fire making materials. 

Will there be coffee on Saturday morning?

Yes! There will be coffee and hot chocolate provided on Saturday morning for all campers. 

Will there be a camp-wide campfire program?

Yes! There will be a campfire program on Friday night of camp. 

Will there be a Friday night cracker barrel? 

No. The only meal provided will be Saturday lunch. 

Can Scouts BSA youth volunteer and earn service hours?

Yes! We'd love for Scouts BSA youth to attend and volunteer. We will write a letter to Scoutmasters notifying them of the number of hours volunteered.
